Since 2021 researcher at Lithuanian Culture Research Institute, Department of Contemporary Lithuanian Culture. She is a member of European Network for Cinema and Media Studies and European Communication Research and Education Association as well Lithuanian Filmmakers Union.

In 2008 at Vytautas Magnus University defended doctoral dissertation Media Art in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia in the Second Part of the 20th Century –21st Century: Institutional and Artistic Development (research adviser prof.dr. Ryszard. W. Kluszczynski, research consultant dr. Audronė Žukauskaitė).

In 2011 – 2012 at Lithuanian Culture Research Institute implemented postdoctoral fellowship  Small Cinema in Global Context:  Filmmaking of Šarūnas Bartas ( research adviser dr. Audronė Žukauskaitė).

She has contributed to nationally and internationally published books and journals dedicated to media culture and film and edited volumes entitled Baltic Cinemas After 1990’s: Shifting (Hi)Stories and (Id)Entities (2010), The Garden of Digital Delights: Crossmedia Practices in Contemporary Art (co-edited with Christopher Hales, 2012), Athena: Philosophy Studies Film and Philosophy (2014) and Mediation of Social Reality: Culture, Politics and Society (co-edited with Kęstas Kirtiklis, 2018); she is a co-author of a monograph Political Breakthrough on Screen: (Post) Communist Transformation in Lithuanian Documentary Cinema and Video Chronicle (Anna Mikonis-Railienė, Renata Šukaitytė, Mantas Martišius and Renata Stonytė, Vilniaus universiteto leidykla, 2020).

Current research interests include Lithuanian and Baltic political and social theme films from the 1990 to the present; neoliberal transformation in Lithuanian and Eastern European cinema and audiovisual culture; cinema as a form of national and transnational collective memory.
