He graduated in 2004 from Vilnius University, Faculty of History and has worked in the Institute’s Baltic cultural section in 2007 as a research assistant, and since 2012 as a junior researcher. He defended his doctoral thesis in 2014 on “Samogitia’s Christianisation and the paganism factor (15-16th century)” at Vilnius University Faculty of History.
His main areas of academic interest are the Baltic religions and their written sources, the history of the introduction of Christianity in Lithuania, the relationship of paganism and Christianity in Lithuania, Lithuanian customs of the traditional calendar, and the reception of pagan religion in contemporary Lithuanian art.
