Luca GILI

PhD in Humanities, Associate Professor, Senior Research Fellow.

Born in 1987 in Fano (Italy). He studied philosophy at the University of Pisa and at the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa (2006–2010), graduating in 2009. He obtained his PhD in Philosophy from KU Leuven (Belgium) in 2016. His doctoral dissertation was entitled Thomas Aquinas on Change. Actuality, Tense and Time in Thomas Aquinas’s Philosophy of Nature (supervisor: Prof. Russell Friedman).

He has worked at the Université du Québec à Montréal (Canada), Vilnius University, LCC International University (Klaipėda), and the University of Genoa (Italy). He is currently Associate Professor of Ancient Philosophy at the University of Chieti-Pescara (Italy) and Senior Research Fellow at the Lithuanian Culture Research Institute.

He has been visiting on research stays the University of Oxford, Fordham University (New York), and Radboud University Nijmegen.

Research areas: ancient philosophy, Aristotelian logic and metaphysics, Late Antiquity, medieval philosophy, Thomas Aquinas, ontology, dialectic, history of logic, Alexander of Aphrodisias.
