Dalius JONKUS

Is Chief Researcher at the Lithuanian Culture Research Institute (since 2022), President of the Lithuanian Society of Phenomenologists (since 2007), and Professor of the Department of Philosophy at Vytautas Magnus University (2005–2014, Head of the Department). His recent publications include the monographs Experience and Reflection: Horizons of Phenomenological Philosophy (2009, in Lithuanian), Phenomenological Philosophy and Its Shadow (with Algis Mickūnas) (in Lituanian, 2014), The Philosophy of Vasily Sesemann: A Phenomenology of Self-awareness and Aesthetic Experience (in Lithuanian, 2015). He also translated into Lithuanian and edited Vasily Sesemann manuscripts Vasily Sesemann. Aesthetics, Philosophy of Culture, History of Philosophy (in Lithuanian, 2020).

PHD: in 1998 defended PhD dissertation “The Problem of Being in the Logic of Martynas Smigleckis” (Lithuanian Institute of Philosophy and Sociology and Vytautas Magnus University). The dissertation was awarded the Vytautas Kavolis prize as the best Lithuanian dissertation of the year.

Research Interests: phenomenological philosophy, philosophical anthropology, cultural philosophy, aesthetics, history of philosophy.
