Scientific biography:

In 1991-1995, Aida Savicka studied at the Faculty of Philosophy of Vilnius University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in sociology. She continued her studies at the Central European University, Faculty of Sociology (Warsaw), where she gained master's degree in sociology and political science in 1996. In 1996–2000, she proceeded with doctoral studies at the Graduate School for Social Research at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. She defended her doctoral dissertation in the humanities “The Dynamics of Postmaterialism in Central European Societies: The Reevaluation of R. Inglehart’s Perspective” at the Jagiellonian University (Cracow, Poland) in 2001. Aida Savicka started working at Culture, Philosophy and Art Institute (since 2010 Lithuanian Culture Research Institute) at 1998. In recent years, particular attention in her works is paid to the issues of articulation of individual and community identity in the networked environment.

Areas of academic interests:

Contemporary value change, Lithuanian culture in the context of cultural globalization processes, the impact of new communication technologies on personal self-awareness and identity formation.
