In 1991–1995, Aida Savicka studied at the Faculty of Philosophy of Vilnius University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in sociology. She continued her studies at the Central European University, Faculty of Sociology (Warsaw), where she gained master's degree in sociology and political science in 1996. In 1996–2000, she proceeded with doctoral studies at the Graduate School for Social Research at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. She defended her doctoral dissertation in the humanities “The Dynamics of Postmaterialism in Central European Societies: The Reevaluation of R. Inglehart’s Perspective” at the Jagiellonian University (Cracow, Poland) in 2001. Aida Savicka has been working at the Lithuanian Culture Research Institute since 1998 (until 2010, the Institute of Culture, Philosophy and Art).

Areas of academic interests: value change in contemporary societies, cultural identity, the impact of new communication technologies on individual self-perception and identity formation, and the cultural manifestations of generational change.

Professional memberships and expert activities:

  • Member of the Lithuanian Sociological Association;
  • Member of the European Survey Research Association (ESRA);
  • Member of the Lithuanian team of the European Values Study (2007–2019);
  • Expert for the Research Council of Lithuania;
  • Member of the Editorial Board and Managing Editor of the peer-reviewed interdisciplinary journal SPHAIROS: Cultural and Media Studies.
