Aida SAVICKA

Aida Savicka is a research fellow with doctoral degree in the field of humanities (sociology). In 1991-1995, she studied at the Faculty of Philosophy of Vilnius University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in sociology. She continued her studies at the Central European University, Faculty of Sociology (Warsaw), where she gained master's degree in sociology and political science in 1996. In 1996–2000, she proceeded with doctoral studies at the Graduate School for Social Research at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. She defended her doctoral dissertation in the humanities at the Jagiellonian University (Cracow) in 2001. The title of the dissertation was “The Dynamics of Postmaterialism in Central European Societies: The Reevaluation of R. Inglehart’s Perspective”. Aida Savicka works at Lithuanian Culture Research Institute since 1998 as a research fellow at the Department of Contemporary Lithuanian Culture. In recent years, particular attention in her works is paid to the issues of articulation of individual and community identity in the networked environment. In researching changes in public values in the context of globalization, she employs the latest data of longitudinal research of World Values Survey and European Values Survey (that are being conducted in Lithuania since 1990).

Member of the projects "National Cultural Priorities: Interdisciplinary Studies of the Song Festival" (2014) and "Comparative Study of Value Changes in Lithuania and Poland" (2017 – 2019) funded by Lithuanian Culture Council.
