The monograph presents one of the most prominent contemporary Lithuanian composers, Anatolijus Šenderovas (1945–2019). The contribution of three generations of Šenderovas‘ family to Lithuanian musical culture is reviewed, the biographical and creative factors of the formation of the composer's worldview, the periods of Šenderovas‘ work and the characteristic features of his music as well as the specifics of themes and musical language are revealed; the importance of the Jewish theme in Šenderovas‘ work and its influence on the processes of cultivating historical memory are analyzed. Interviews of the author of the monograph with the composer, feedback from his associates and colleagues about creative cooperation and the peculiarities of Šenderovas‘ music and its performance are also presented.
